JPL Learning 2.0: The 23 Things*

Week 1: Introduction

And away we go...

  2. Read this entry to discover a few pointers on lifelong learning and how to nurture your own learning process.


  3. Wow! This first week of JPL L2.0 has been great with lots of JPL staff members starting our learning journey.

    From your comments so far, I can see that we are going to have fun discovering these great tools that are out there on the web for us to use.

    For those of you already on board with this learning adventure, thanks for proving that JPL has more than it’s share of early adopters. And for those of you who are still watching what's going on, join on in. You can start anytime.

    Week 2: Blogging
  4. Set up your own blog & add your first post.
  5. Register your blog with the JPL Training Office and begin your Learning 2.0 journey.


  6. Week 3: Photos & Images
  7. Discover Flickr and learn about this popular image hosting site.

  8. Have some Flickr fun and discover some Flickr mashups & 3rd party sites.

  9. Create a blog post about anything technology related that interests you this week.
    You will create 3 separate blog posts this week.


  10. Week 4: RSS & Newsreaders
  11. Learn about RSS feeds and setup your own Bloglines newsreader account.

  12. Locate a few useful library related blogs and/or news feeds.


  13. Week 5: Play Week
  14. Play around with an online image generator.

  15. Take a look at LibraryThing and catalog some of your favorite books.

  16. Add a JaxCat search gadget to your blog.



  17. Week 6: Tagging, Folksonomies & Technorati
  18. Learn about tagging and discover a Del.icio.us (a social bookmaking site)

  19. Explore Technorati and learn how tags work with blog posts.

  20. Read a few perspectives on Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future of libraries and blog your thoughts.


  21. Week 7: Wikis

  22. Learn about wikis and discover some innovative ways that libraries are using them.

  23. Add an entry to the Learning 2.0 SandBox wiki.


  24. Week 8: Online Applications & Tools

  25. Take a look at some online productivity(word processing, spreadsheet) tools.

  26. Explore any site from the Web 2.0 awards list, play with it and write a blog post about your findings.

    Week 9: Podcasts, Video & Downloadable audio

  27. Discover YouTube and a few sites that allow users to upload and share videos.

  28. Discover some useful search tools for locating podcasts.

  29. Take a look at the titles available on NetLibrary and learn how to download audiobooks.

  30. Summarize your thoughts about this program on your blog.
